I chose this piece to put in my portfolio because this was one of my best writing pieces of the whole year. The thing that I like about the poem is that I used a lot of imagery and it showed. I made the objects in the peom have life like features or actions. In this project we had to go to several different places in New York and record what we saw at those places. I liked going out and observing for a writing project. It was a changing from sitting behind the screen of a computer and writing something. This was a fun and useful project.
Sample Work #2
This piece of artwork is from the unit in which we had to create an image using different examples of texture. For this piece in particular I used the texture of the sole of a shoe, the texture of my art notebook, and more. Later on in the project we had to cut shapes out from all the texture samples we got, and then construct something using the shapes we cut out. I used this piece beacuse I liked that textures and colors that I used. I got a good grade on this and I was very happy when got the rubric back. I also used this because it shows how creative I am and how I can apply my creativity in school and anywhere else.
Sample Work #3
This piece of work is from my Spanish class. Here we had to draw images of certain Spanish words as a way of helping us with our memorization of Spanish vocabulary. Then after we drew the images in the boxes, we had to identify the word that applied to the picture. This was counted as a test grade and I did very well on it. I was also proud of the drawings because I got to use my artist skills in Spanish class. All of these pictures were recognizable and even though I used stick figures it shows how I am good at drawing.
Year-End Reflection:
The pieces of work that I have shown are from various classes for various subjects. The reason why I picked to put these pieces to put into my portfolio is because it shows a variety of skills that I have applied to school. These pieces show both my strengths and my weaknesses by the detail of both the artwork and the writing. The strengths of these are that they are all organized and well detailed. The weaknesses of the pieces is that they, even though are organised and detailed, they still are not as long as possible. All of my pieces thorughout the year were okay, except for a few like the ones above. I would have like to put a longer story instead of the poem, but it didnt get a good enough grade for me to really be proud of it. Overall, this year was good and I liked most of the work that I did, and the tests that I took. I look forward to next year and will make it an even better year.
